The Casa de los Tres Mundos is promoting in 2011 a capacity building project and at the same time a musical production. The “Ópera Reggaetón” is a training program for young Nicaraguan musicians in specific artistic and managing capacities, including a musical production at the end of the cycle. It´s already pssible to apply for the participation in this project: http://www.sites.google.com/site/operareggaeton/
The concept fuses the styles of rap and reggaetón with storytelling and the expressive possibilities of classical music and other folk genres (Latin/Gipsy). The two project components (a workshops series and a musical production) will be realized under the coordination of professional musicians and national and international experts in arts and music production. The main goal of the project is the transfer of specific knowledge to stimulate new artistic expressions, and promote creative capacities of young Nicaraguan musicians in the classical and popular sector.
The selected participants will gain a scholarship to join the workshops, the call will be open for all interested youngsters. 20 persons will be selected by a judging panel. The call will be opened from 21st of February 2011 and the inscriptions can be sent to the e-mail adress operareggaeton@c3mundos.org.
The workshops offer capacity building in the areas harmonics, text writing and musical composition, digital editing including the use of the software Steinberg Cubase 5.0., choreography, promotion and marketing. Each of the workshops lasts approximately one week and they´re starting in May 2011.
The materials developed during the workshops (text, music, choreography, video) will be merged into a collective show, and presented at a large scale public event on Plaza de la Independencia in Granada/NIC. At this event participate, apart from the reggaetón singers, the C3M choir, the Nicaraguan Youth Orchestra and street dance groups – a fairytale called „Opera Reggaetón”!
