On 20th September took place the handover of the glucometer in the premises of the Casa de los Tres Mundos. The Mexican sculptor Mr. Sergio Canudas donated this appliance to the Japanese hospital of Nicaragua which was represented by the vice director Dr. José Santos Meza.
The glucometer was bought from the money, which has been collected with the admissions of the micro sculptures exhibition of Mr. Canudas. This exhibition took place for 12 days in the premises of the Casa de los Tres Mundos.
The artist, who as well is diabetic, once has been in the emergency room of this said hospital, and there he was observing how they had to take a blood sample from a small girl in order to make examinations, because there was no glucometer. This motivated him to make the exhibition therewith he could contribute something to the hospital. Although he hadn’t collected that much money he was very well able to complete the lacking part and buy the glucometer.
He himself presented Dr. Meza the glucometer. Dr. Meza was very pleased about the initiative of the artist and thanked him for gesture and the support. Likewise he gave thanks to the Casa de los Tres Mundos for promoting for this kind of event.
Mr. Canudas proclaimed that any time soon he will prepare a puppet theatre with which he wants to inform children about diabetes, its causes and consequences. But therefore he has to work firstly on the puppets so that he can mount afterwards a theatre.
