Donations
The project depends on foreign donations. Unfortunately there is not a lot of financial support for cultural projects in Nicaragua and it is difficult to receive money from the government.
Therefore we are dependent on Your help. Even a small donation can provide a recorder and sheets. With $10 per month a new student can learn how to play the recorder.
As well our Talleres, the training and further education of elementary school teachers, need your help. Only 25 $ can allow another teacher to participate. Thus we can pass another step to guarantee musical education in Nicaragua in the future.

Volunteers help in “Música en los Barrios”
Since 2003 European volunteers have come and work in “Música en los Barrios”. During their stay of one year they support the project in different areas. Depending on their individual ability, volunteers give piano classes, accompany the talleres, offer dance lessons or support the team in the office.
“Since we have had volunteers, the contact between the people involved in the project has become much better. We can learn a lot of each other.”

The volunteers not only introduce their ideas to the project and provide their abilites, but also gain a lot of experiences during their stay.

A Movie about “Música en los Barrios”
Do you also want to listen now to the nicaraguan recorders and do you want to receive a more authentic impression of the project? Two movies carry the atmosphere of MelB directly into your living room. From March to June 2005 Peter Klein from Germany made two documentaries about the project which you can order at Pan y Arte.
