The Art School works as an open workshop for children from 6-13 years and offers bimensal courses in painting, drawing, gravure, handicrafts and sculptures of paper-mâché. The classes take place three times a week, two hours each. This project promotes the artistic visual culture for children of any kind of social position, who already have artistic experience and knowledge or want to discover talents and develop abilities. Moreover it’s a service for the community of Granada where as in the whole country fine arts aren’t included in the schedule of the public schools.
Our objective is that there always exists an open cultural centre to promote and maintain the art and the culture for all children in Granada in the Foundation Casa de los Tres Mundos.
Besides we want to amplify the workshop in physical means as well as in question of staff and participation numbers and expand the possibility of free instruction. To reach these goals we still have to provide the financial help first.
Currently the courses are bimensal. There are always some kids who are sponsored by the Foundation Casa de los Tres Mundos and the school is supported by public contributions. On average 25 to 30 children assist per class.
During all works, classes, expositions and publications of the Painting School Ligia Sandino counted on the help of the art professor Carolina Florez (nowadays director of the Graphic Workshop) until 1996. Other contributor in 2006 was the young art student Sayly Araúz.
