This study explores the motivation of participating in the elections, the knowledge and confidence of the electorate in the system and its institutions, and seeks to investigate in the popular political image of Nicaragua’s recent history from the time of Somoza until today.
In the rural zone of Malacatoya, Nicaragua, more than half of the population is unemployed. The prevailing opinion is that natural disasters are God’s punishment, but, at the same time, a blessing as in succession external help arrives. This participatory research investigates socio-economic and cultural variables related to the state of unemployment in this community, accompanying an employment initiative of the Fundación Casa de los Tres Mundos.
Accompanying the creation of the radio transmitter Radio Volcán, the present study creates a base line on the means of radiocommunication in Granada, Nicaragua, and validates the demand and viability of a community radio in this region in order to optimize the social impact oft the new station.
